Resource Abuse Policy

Webporter allows web applications, CGI and scripts to be used in conjuction with website hosting services. These technologies can be resource intensive, and since our hosting plans are offered within shared user environments, we must monitor and limit the resources which can get used by any one account.

Why does Webporter have this policy?

There are many accounts setup for users within a shared server environment. In all fairness, Webporter cannot allow one or two clients to use all of the system resources on a shared server, while all other clients on the server suffer because of it. Excessive CPU or memory usage by one or more clients causes extreme slowness in all areas: FTP, Telnet, websites and more. If these resources and the usage of other resources becomes too extreme, websites hosted on the same server may return errors and not be accessible.

What happens if I violate this policy?

Accounts that are found to be using excessive amounts of system resources, depending upon the severity of their use, will be suspended. You will receive notification from us informing you that there are too many resources being used, and provided with options for reducing the usage or upgrading your services. If you do not reduce the usage within 24 hours of the email being sent, the associated scripts and/or your website will be disabled until we are satisfied the situation has been fixed.
